I. CODE OF ETHICS

The Artful Impact creative learning program is dedicated to fostering a respectful, supportive, and empowering environment for all clients. Our code of ethics outlines the values and standards that guide our community, ensuring a positive experience for everyone involved.

1. Respect for Others

  • Kindness and Courtesy: Treat all participants, staff, and visitors with kindness, respect, and understanding. We value diversity and encourage everyone to be considerate and inclusive.

  • Positive Communication: Use respectful language when speaking with others, and practice active listening to understand different perspectives.

  • Tolerance for Differences: Show acceptance and empathy toward others’ unique abilities, perspectives, and backgrounds.

2. Responsibility and Accountability

  • Personal Responsibility: Take responsibility for your actions, words, and behavior. This includes maintaining a positive attitude and making constructive choices.

  • Accountability for Progress: Engage actively in program activities, set personal goals, and work consistently toward your development.

  • Honesty and Integrity: Be truthful in your communications and actions. Honesty fosters trust and strengthens relationships within our community.

3. Commitment to Safety and Well-Being

  • Safe Practices: Follow safety guidelines and instructions from staff at all times to maintain a safe working environment.

  • Respect for Boundaries: Respect the physical and personal boundaries of others, and refrain from any behavior that may be uncomfortable or disruptive to others.

  • Self-Care: Maintain personal hygiene and practice self-care routines to promote a healthy, respectful workspace.

4. Professionalism and Work Ethic

  • Punctuality and Preparedness: Arrive on time, be prepared for activities, and commit to completing assigned tasks.

  • Positive Attitude: Approach each task with a willingness to learn and improve. Maintain a positive attitude toward challenges and ask for help when needed.

  • Quality of Work: Aim for excellence in your work and strive to produce your best effort. This commitment to quality reflects pride in your skills and your contributions to the program.

5. Supportive and Cooperative Behavior

  • Teamwork: Participate cooperatively in group activities and respect the contributions of others.

  • Constructive Feedback: Receive and give feedback respectfully, using it to grow and support others in the program.

  • Encouragement and Positivity: Encourage fellow participants and celebrate their successes. We believe in fostering a positive, collaborative environment where everyone feels supported.

6. Use of Program Resources

  • Respect for Property: Treat program equipment, tools, and materials with care and respect. Report any damages to staff promptly.

  • Efficient Use of Resources: Use materials and resources thoughtfully to minimize waste and support a sustainable environment.

  • Integrity in Handling Money: Follow program guidelines for any financial transactions, including proper handling of money in gift shop activities and practicing accuracy in financial responsibilities.

7. Personal Growth and Development

  • Openness to Learning: Embrace opportunities to learn new skills, reflect on personal growth, and be open to trying new approaches.

  • Goal-Oriented Mindset: Set personal and vocational goals, and work diligently with staff support to achieve them.

  • Adaptability: Be willing to adapt to new tasks, procedures, or constructive feedback. Flexibility is key to personal and professional growth.

II. BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS

To maintain a safe, supportive, and productive environment, all participants in the Artful Impact vocational training program are expected to adhere to certain behavior rules. The program is committed to working with each individual to encourage positive behaviors and support their journey toward achieving personal and vocational goals. These rules are designed to foster respect, accountability, and a positive learning atmosphere for everyone involved.

1. Respect for Others

  • Treat all participants, staff, and visitors with kindness, respect, and patience.

  • Refrain from using offensive language or engaging in actions that could harm others emotionally or physically.

  • Listen to and consider the perspectives of others, even when they differ from your own.

2. Safe and Positive Communication

  • Speak politely and respectfully, using constructive language in all interactions.

  • No cursing or offensive language.

  • Avoid behaviors such as yelling, arguing, or interrupting others.

  • Address conflicts or misunderstandings calmly and, if needed, seek help from staff.

  • Avoid leaving your work or the facility without communicating.

3. Responsibility and Self-Management

  • Follow directions given by staff and adhere to the program’s daily schedule.

  • Complete assigned tasks and activities to the best of your ability and with a positive attitude.

  • Ask questions if you do not understand a task.

4. Professionalism and Work Ethic

  • Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to participate in program activities.

  • Maintain personal hygiene and dress appropriately for the program setting.

  • Put forth your best effort and strive for quality in all work tasks.

5. Respect for Program Property and Resources

  • Use program tools and resources carefully and responsibly.

  • Avoid wasting materials and keep shared spaces clean and organized.

  • Handle tools, materials, and equipment with care.

  • Return items to their proper place after use.

  • Report any damage or issues with equipment to a staff member.

6. Demonstrate Self-Control

  • Remain calm during challenging situations.

  • No biting, hitting, kicking, or physical aggression towards others.

  • Use coping strategies (like taking deep breaths or asking for a break) if you feel frustrated.

  • Follow the agreed-upon break routines to stay focused and engaged.

7. Practice Safety at All Times

  • Use equipment and materials only as instructed.

  • Follow safety rules in all areas, including the kitchen, workstations, and gift shop.

  • Report any unsafe situations to a staff member right away.

8. Commitment to Personal Growth and Learning

  • Be open to learning new skills, trying new activities, and working toward personal goals.

  • Accept constructive feedback from staff and use it to improve.

  • Cooperate with others in group tasks and contribute to a positive team environment.

9. Physical Contact

  • No touching people or personal items without asking.

  • No kissing, handholding, massaging, or tickling (handshakes and high fives are appropriate).

  • No harassing behavior or sexual misconduct.

10. Additional behavior expectations

  • No alcohol or drugs.

  • No weapons, real or fake.

  • No stealing or taking things from others without asking.

III. TECHNOLOGY AND INTERNET USE

To ensure a safe, productive, and respectful environment, the following technology and internet policy applies to both participants and staff at Artful Impact. This policy outlines the expectations for the use of electronic devices, internet access, and online conduct within the program.

1. Use of Personal Devices

  • Participants and staff may bring personal devices (e.g., smartphones, tablets, laptops) to the program, but their use should not interfere with training activities or work tasks.

  • Personal devices should be used during designated break times unless permission is granted by the staff for specific work-related purposes.

  • The program is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal devices.

2. Access to Program Devices and Internet

  • Program-owned devices (computers, tablets, etc.) are available for training purposes, job-related tasks, and skill development activities.

  • Participants may use the internet for educational activities, vocational training, research, and business operations (e.g., managing the online store for client-made crafts).

3. Internet Usage Guidelines

  • The internet should be used in a responsible and respectful manner. Inappropriate content, including but not limited to, pornography, violence, hate speech, or any illegal activity, is strictly prohibited.

4. Privacy and Security

  • Personal information of participants, staff, or customers must not be shared or posted online without explicit consent.

  • Users must log out of any personal accounts accessed on program devices and refrain from saving passwords or personal information on shared computers.

  • The program may monitor internet activity and device usage to ensure compliance with the policy.

5. Digital Safety and Education

  • Staff will assist participants in understanding safe online behaviors and will provide support if participants encounter issues while using the internet.

  • Participants will receive training on digital systems being used for or used to promote the program.

6. Reporting

  • Participants and staff are encouraged to report any concerns about inappropriate use of technology or the internet immediately to the program director.
